Simon J. Brewer is an American accountant based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is Chief Financial Officer of Operation Underground Railroad and owner of Brewer Initiatives.[1]
Brewer worked as an unpaid minister for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on a two-year mission to Russia from 1997-1999. Upon his return, he worked as a night auditor for a Marriott International.[2]
Brewer studied at the University of Utah from 2000-2004, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting with a minor in Russian. He was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi and the Golden Key International Honor Society. He graduated in 2005 with a Masters Degree in Accounting, as a member of Beta Alpha Psi.[1:1]
From 2005-2009, Brewer worked as a Supervising Senior Associate at KPMG. His clients included the United States Departments of Energy and the Interior, CHG Healthcare and United Way.[2:1]
He then worked as an Associate Instructor at the University of Utah in the accounting department from 2010-2013. Meanwhile, he served as a Partner and Chief Financial Officer for Night of the Running Dead.[2:2]
Brewer worked as Vice President of Finance and IT at Wilson Electronics from 2013-2016, and Chief Financial Officer of Norbest from 2016-2018.
On November 25, 2016, Brewer incorporated Brewer Initiatives alongside Joseph Brewer.[3]
In 2018, Brewer was recruited as CFO at Predictive Technology Group and its subsidiaries, Predictive Biotech and LifeCode Genetics.[2:3][4]
From May 2019 to July 2021, Brewer worked as an Adjunct Instructor in the University of Utah's Accounting Department.[5] According to his students, Brewer would frequently go on tangents and tell "irrelevant stories about Area 51 during his time auditing."[6]
In July 2021, Brewer became Chief Operating Officer of Operation Underground Railroad until February 2023, and continues as Chief Financial Officer.[2:4][7]
