20/20 GeneSystems is an American medical diagnostics company based in Rockville, Maryland. The company offers blood tests to detect cancer through OneTest, COVID-19 PCR, rapid antigen and antibody testing through CoronaCheck, and anthrax testing through 20/20 BioResponse.
¶ History
20/20 GeneSystems was founded in May 2000 by Jonathan Cohen.[1][2] In November 2000, the company entered a licensing agreement with the United States Public Health Service which granted the company exclusive rights to use several patents owned by the federal government.[3]
On February 7, 2001, the company applied for trademark registration of the phrases "We Will See the Cure" and "20/20" for use with "multi-replica blotting kits comprised primarily of laboratory reagents and proprietary membranes sold as a unit for scientific or research use in the analysis of proteins."[4][5]
In July 2002, the company received $150,000 in funding from MdBio.[3:1]
In 2010, the company entered an agreement with Abbott Molecular to use "certain processes and know-how for which Abbott has a patent pending."[3:2]
In the second half of 2018, the company began focusing on the commercialization of OneTest, "a multi-cancer test and algorithm to screen for multiple cancer types from a single blood sample."[3:3]
