Infrastructure Canada is a department of the Government of Canada responsible for federal public infrastructure policy.
In 2017, Infrastructure Canada launched the Smart Cities Challenge "to empower communities across the country to address the issues their residents face, using new partnerships and a smart cities approach." The program provided funding for the Town of Bridgewater, Pinnguaq, the City of Guelph, County of Wellington and the City of Montreal.[1]
Infrastructure Canada launched the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative to provide $31 million in funding "to help communities adapt public spaces and local services in a way that meets people’s needs both during and following the COVID-19 pandemic."[1:1][2]
