The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is a graduate school of Johns Hopkins University based in Baltimore, Maryland.
In 1997, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation gave $2.25 million to the school to establish "a training and research program for family planning and reproductive health specialists from developing nations." This program was the basis for the creation of the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health in 1999, for which the foundation provided an additional $20 million.[1]
