BioProtection Systems Corporation (BPSC) was an American biotechnology company based in Ames, Iowa.[1]
BPSC was founded in 2005 as a subsidiary of NewLink Genetics.[1:1]
On August 5, 2014, BPSC announced that it had received an initial $1 million contract from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) to bring the rVSV-ZEBOV-G vaccine candidate against Ebola to clinical trials. The candidate was licensed from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).[2] Dr. Robert Malone was tapped by the DTRA to lead the program.[3][4]
